This is a quick post ( from my iPhone) to address an ongoing issue I have encountered since starting this blog.
Traffic brings many problems.
Getting people at the start is a tough enough challenge for a new blog but what do you do when your new found readership starts to drop off?
The first thing I do when this happens is look at how my readers found my blog in the first place.
Whatever tactic you use to get new eyeballs on your blog posts, the answer to this problem will always be "content"
Content will always be king but like energy it will come on many forms.
User generated content is in my humble opinion the best kind as it is always organic and opinionated.
But it's the hardest to get especially for bloggers. Social networks clean up when it comes to UGC simply 'cause of the way they work.
It's not all bad though, good content is no longer good enough.
You need to be great but also you need to be seen.
When you lose traffic/readers it's your fault.
Maybe you blog like I do and lose your mojo for it from Time to time or maybe it's the SEO side of things. Whatever the reason, it needs fixing.
Keep creating great content and work on the visibility of your blog posts as stand alone content and keep the faith.
Your readers will come back and you'll be discovered by new ones.
This I know for certain ( from obsessing about stats for two years).
